Being grateful, feeling gratitude, feeling thankful plays a huge part of being happy. The energy of gratitude also helps you manifest whatever your desire.
It is a powerful energy, but honestly speaking, for most of us normal regular people, it is the last thought in our minds. There are kids to take care of, aging parents, illness, bills, work, laundry, dishes. The list is unending.
However, I recently decided I must make a conscious effort to bringing the feeling of gratitude in my life. I tried these two methods, and they worked beautifully. I can honestly feel a huge shift in my moods, and life.
1. GRATITUDE JOURNAL:
Yes, I know, most probably you have done it and given up on it. I had done it too before, and found it a huge bore. So this time I made some changes. First: I got 2 journals with pictures I love. I just LOVE animals. One journal has a kitten on it, and the other has a puppy. Second: I enlisted my 8 year old son to do this activity with me. Third: We both write 5 things we were grateful for that day, just before sleeping. Fourth: We think and describe exactly why we feel grateful about each thing. And I must say it has made a HUGE difference to me. There is something wonderful and powerful about doing this with a child who is enthusiastic about doing this with you. If you don’t have a child, enlist your spouse, or another family member, or a friend. Describing why I feel grateful makes me re-live it, and relish it all over again.
End Result: I sleep a much happier person, feeling so much more peace. Try it yourself and see how you feel. It seriously helps you sleep better!
2. GRATITUDE OBJECT:
This is really simple. I got this idea from the movie: The Secret. They talk of a Gratitude Rock. What you need to do is carry with you something, anything that can be with you always, and assign it as your “Gratitude Object”. During the day, whenever you see or touch that object (eg: a rock, your ring, bracelet, chapstick, comb etc), you need to think of ONE thing you are grateful about. It becomes a game, and can be a lot of fun.
End Result: You are thinking grateful thoughts all through the day.
These are simple tips, but believe me, they have made a huge difference in my life. Do it, and let me know how you feel.
And I’ll be super grateful if you click the share buttons here and share on Facebook, Twitter etc. Thank you! 😀

Sounds great, I’ll definitely try it and let you know!
Suzanne 🙂
I’d love to hear from you Suzanne! :-))))
A piece of of jewelry – like a bracelet my late husband gave to me. It reminds me of his love and his care, even when we cannot be together.
That is perfect Doris! The most beautiful object to pick. Hugs!
I love this. Awesome Idea for both. I am going to suggest this at church this week. 🙂 thanks
Oh that will be so awesome of you! Thank you for spreading the word on how to live in more gratitude <3
Wow..this is something new..although I am always grateful in my thoughts and sometimes I say it out loud but seldom in a journal. I hope this will work out with me as I have the tendency to leave things undone sometimes.. Thanks for sharing Swati Nigam…;-)
Tere, I’m so glad you liked this. Do it with someone you would love to do this with, and you will stick to it. I had tried before too, and given up. But now I do it with my little one. And it is my FAVORITE part of the 24 hours! Writing my gratitude journal with my son. Partner up with someone :-)))
I think its great i will be trying this on regular basis….
Thankss
Great! Let me know how it goes with you 😀
I’ve never tried keeping a gratitude book before. I will definitely do this and see how it works!
Christine, do it! 🙂 And stick to it. I have seen that I stick to it better because I am doing this with my little one. I look forward to doing this each day with him. And just this small act has brought so many changes and blessings in my life that I am truly grateful for this. Hugs!
I keep a journal just for this purpose and start my day with a list of things that I’m grateful for. I find that it helps me start my day with such a good feeling about life. I am trying to pass this on to my granddaughter when she comes to spend time with me.
That is awesome Debra! I hope your granddaughter enjoys it as much as you do. Hugs!
Excellent Swati! I love my journaling and find I live so much more in gratitude because of it. I will bring a shell when I need to return to NH to remind me of my special beach times…and feel gratitude that I know I will return!
I love to use shells for gratitude too! 😀 Or rocks I collected from here and there 😀
