I have always loved fragrances. One shelf is dedicated to my myriads of essential oils. I used to buy plenty of perfumes. But then I learned how easy it was to make my own sprays from essential oils.
And essential oils have so many healing properties that we can use aromatically, by applying topically, or by ingesting internally. The sprays I will talk about are to be used aromatically.
1. Get a small spray bottle. An 8 oz one will do. A dark colored bottle is best.
2. Add 1 oz pure Vodka to it. This is the best choice, as it helps mix the oils in water, and preserves the oils and the water. 90% isopropyl alcohol will also do, but Vodka is considered superior. And if you do not wish to use alcohol at all, add 2-3 pinches of Epsom salt to the bottle. Epsom salt helps mix the oils in water too. But it does not help preserve. Oh you can also you Witch Hazel instead of any of this.
3. Add about 20-30 drops of the essential oils of your choice.
4. Add pure distilled water to the bottle to almost full.
5. Close it, and shake it well.
6. Put away in a dark place for about 3-4 weeks if you have mixed in more than 1 essential oil. It helps the fragrance “cook” and mature.
After adding the water, smell and see if you want to add more of any particular essential oil.
Essential oils are helpful in connecting to Archangels too.
Today I made Lavender Body Spray, which I will also use on my pillow covers and my comforter covers so I get a good nights sleep :-).
Healing Properties of Lavender Essential Oil as a spray (aromatherapy):
Lavender soothes you. Helps in depression, headaches – especially migraines. It helps you relax, your muscles relax, and you can sleep well. It helps with communication, and helps you feel seen and heard. You know, how sometimes, or oftentimes we can feel invisible? I have had those! 🙂 It helps you with acne, sunburn, stress, anxiety. It is a great insect repellant. It helps you heal from feelings of rejection. It helps you to be true to yourself. It helps you open the Crown Chakra and the Third Eye.
There must be many more used of Lavender in aromatherapy healing, and you can read about it in books on essential oils, and even on the internet. This post is mostly about how to make a spray for yourself, and a few of the benefits of Lavender essential oil in aromatherapy.
Lavender helps you connect with these Archangels:
Archangel Chamuel, Archangel Michael, Archangel Raphael, Archangel Jophiel, Archangel Uriel, Archangel Zadkiel.
Hope you make your Lavender spray, use it on yourself, your beds, and enjoy its many benefits. Most of all its soothing, calming goodness.
Don’t forget to leave me messages about your own experiences with essential oils, Mt. Everest, Panda Bears 😛 or anything else! And of course, don’t hesitate to ask if you have a question…I will try my best to answer. Also, remember…this is for informational purposes only. Not to treat any medical conditions…for that, only your doctor is qualified to help you.
Enjoy making your sprays!
Much love,

thanks for the info. one thing i love about my egyptian oils is, the quality never changes so you never have to add anything to it, and you don’t even need a dark bottle…
Oh that is wonderful! I keep telling you…we need to get that donkey :D.
Will try this one! Love lavender!
Pratibha, try all different kinds, based on their healing properties, and of course the oh so yummmm fragrance! 😀
Thank you for this! I’m going to make some of my own.
Yayyy!! Let me know how it goes. And you can make so many different kinds of sprays with the various EO’s!
I want to know how to make the oil from my fresh French Lavender plant.
Thank you.
Hi Tisch…I do not know how to make essential oils because that requires special equipment. But You can always make infusion oils. Take a bottle of Grapeseed oil, remove half, and fill it with Lavender leaves and flowers picked when it is early morning or early evening (that’s when the fragrance is strongest). Leave it like that for several weeks, and later you can filter it. You can google how to make lavender infusion oil and get detailed instructions. 🙂
I made some room spray using some rubbing alcohol, an essential oil of my choice (or 2 oils), shake it then fill up with water – it’s great. However, I have some 100ml plastic bottles I want to use to make some more and just wondered if there was a ratio of rubbing alcohol / water that I would need to use?
The ratio I have given in this article…I would use the same ratio. My proportions are for 8 oz bottle. 100 ml is about 3.4oz. I use 1oz alcohol for 8oz bottle. So for a 3.4oz bottle, use 3.4 divided by 8 = 0.425oz alcohol. Hope that helps :-).
Thank you, much appreciated…
You’re welcome! 🙂
Thanks for your information. How long do you think the oils would last if i was only going to use epsom salt to mix the oils and water?
And what do you think about using ocean water??
When I used Epson salt, I used it for about 40 days and it was finished by then. It certainly did remain fresh and nice for 40 days. I have never used ocean water. I personally might not use it because ocean water has a very distinct strong smell. But try it and let me know how it goes! It’s an interesting thought. Hugs!
Does the Witch hazel preserve the water and oils?
Yes, I hear it does, but I always use Vodka, so I do not know from experience.
I have tried to make a room spray to use directly on my pillow when I am falling asleep. I used witch hazel and about 20 drops of lavender oil and filled the rest with water. However, I am not able to smell the lavender even after I put about 20 more drops in. Am I doing something wrong?
If I were to use vodka would it smell strongly of vodka?
I use Vodka in my sprays and never smell it. I can only smell the essential oil. 🙂
Great, simple recipe. Thanks so much!
